African Culture vs American Culture Teen Pregnancy

Getting pregnant as a teenager would get you sent back home to whatever country your family is from if you live in America. Well that almost happened to me. I was a young teenage mother at 15 years old. I felt a lot of pressure growing up in my home. I was forbidden to do so much but at the same time able to do so because I snuck and did it. The more my parents said I could not do this or that I wanted to do it more. I could not do anything like a normal teen without them drilling me. That is when I became rebellious.

Teen Pregnancy in America does not mean that you are banned from continuing your education or even hidden from the public. There are options such as adoption or abortion. Unlike in Sierra Leone a policy was written to ban pregnant teenagers not to attend school and continue their education. Because some parents refused for their children to attend the same school or sit in class with someone pregnant because they felt like they were a bad influence. Teens pregnancy rate is high in Sierra Leone due to typically being thrown into marriages and not having a choice whether to keep or abort because there was no bill past for abortions or even the technology.

No matter whether it is in America or Sierra Leone pregnancy should not prevent you from continuing your education or pursuing your dreams. Raising a child is not an easy task but it can get done. There are plenty of resources available in America but what about Sierra Leone?Sierra Leone may not have the best technology but has improved.

I spill all the tea in my upcoming Urban book “The Journey of the Unbreakable Warrior”. You will find out so much about me being a teenage mother and the path I took on the route of raising my son. And what my parents did once they found out I was pregnant. It was a long and bumpy road, but you will have to continue the journey with me to find out what happens next.
